Chronic Constipation Causes, Relief and Remedy

CONSTIPATION! For those living, or attempting to live a healthy lifestyle, chronic (or occasional) constipation can really cramp your style. Everyone has experienced this discomfort.

However, discovering your own individual natural causes, relief and remedy for the occasional or chronic struggle is the healthiest way to go. Out of all of life’s little inconveniences, constipation (chronic or not) is on the top of that frustration heap.

Personally, being in the condition of “having regular bowel movements” is my world’s top priority. Honing along on a routine basis seems to lessen the blow of life’s other challenges. Understanding your causes of constipation helps you find relief and creation of your own personal bowel routine remedy; elimination of that which drags you down. So let’s get started on finding you a solution!

Technically speaking, constipation is defined as having fewer than three bowel movements/week. Personally, daily is my ideal.

When constipated, your stools are very hard, dry, and difficult to eliminate. Yep, resulting in that painful movement that requires intensive straining to relieve your bloating and that full bowel sensation.

Constipation results when your colon absorbs too much water or your colon’s muscle contractions are slow or sluggish, causing the stool to move through the colon too slowly. Thus, your stools may become hard and dry. Not good for ease of elimination.

Constipation is a symptom, and a poor diet coupled with the lack of exercise is by far its typical cause. Self-treatment by over-the-counter laxatives is the aid most widely used for relief. But before you reach for that next laxative, review these common causes of chronic constipation to discover if your relief and remedy might be as simple as a couple lifestyle changes.

Above all, the single most common cause of chronic constipation is consuming a diet low in fiber! Although you may get relief with laxatives, over time your body grows dependent on this remedy. As a result, this use becomes habit-forming and you may need to increase the dose in order to have a bowel movement.
